Instructional design support for lab based unit of work

Online course design

Develop a structured online learning programme within the University learning management system. Provide just-in-time professional learning support during the migration of a paper based course into a collaborative online learning unit.

Our Task: Provide in-situ Next PL professional learning across the year for teachers modelling with in class demonstrations.

UWA Pharmacology have a new collaborative learning space comprised of a $6m refurbishment of M Block at Perth’s Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre that created a technology-rich wet lab and three interconnected e-learning suites for two schools within the UWA Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.

  • Demonstrating pedagogy
  • Collaborative learning
  • Moodle LMS
  • Online assessment
  • Flipped classroom modelling

We created the unit with the help of Paul Reid and Shane McGurk from Next Learning. Since we introduced new units through New Courses, our enrolment numbers have increased four and five-fold. This technology partnership allows us to accommodate that increase. We really think it is the way forward, and look forward to working with Next Learning in additional teaching and learning initiatives.
