2 Day Workshop for PEAC Teachers

In situ Professional Learning where pedagogy drives technology

NextPL Workshop

A 2 Day Workshop in collaboration with Emergent Form to provide PEAC teachers with an opportunity for strategic deliberation and discussion, enabling them to explore important ideas and trends in education and technology and prepare their students for the future.

Our Task: To facilitate a 2-day workshop that allowed PEAC teachers to engage in discussions, explore emerging trends, and develop strategies for incorporating important ideas into their teaching practices. We provided access to technology, encouraged collaboration, and guided teachers in using design thinking and storytelling techniques to shape the outcomes of the workshop.

The client for the PEAC Workshop was specifically PEAC teachers. PEAC (Primary Extension and Challenge) is a program in Western Australia that provides specialized learning opportunities for academically gifted and talented students.

During the workshop, we utilized various processes to achieve the desired outcomes, including:

• Exploration of trends and ideas in education and technology
• Journalism exercises to establish connections between teaching priorities and the future
• Integration of technology, such as iPads and internet access, to facilitate research, collaboration, and multimedia creation
• Incorporation of storytelling as a model for organizing thoughts and ideas
• Implementation of design thinking methods to refine and prioritize concepts
• Group exercises to gather and refine ideas
• Prototyping exercises to explore potential implementation strategies
• Emphasis on teacher collaboration and facilitation to bring the outcomes into focus
• Utilization of technology as a tool for learning and highlighting its potential contribution to education.

Through these processes, we aimed to create an engaging and collaborative environment that empowered teachers to shape the scope, priorities, and outcomes of the workshop while utilizing technology as a valuable learning resource.
