Cybersafety Workshop: Although there can be concern and negativity about our children being online, we need to remember how necessary these computer related skills are for their future. How do we offer that great opportunity to our children yet ensure they are safe and well protected. The answer to this is a surprisingly low tech one. Talk with your children. This is an opportunity to strengthen your relationship with them. Talk about the websites they go to, the online friends they have, about how to avoid scams, about how to be polite to others when communicating online, about how to respond to personal questions from others, and generally all those things adults know about human relationships that our kids don’t know yet. Kids may be perceived as more natural users of technology, but adults are much more skilled about how to handle relationships.
